The alumni of 1983 class initiated Professional Development and Innovation Awards to promote the spirit of professional excellence and innovation amongst undergraduate technology/architecture students of IIT Roorkee and to provide alumni mentoring support to them.

Since its inception in the year 2019, the program has been run successfully by IITR faculty and alumni in partnership. The awards totalling over Rs. 1 Lakh will be given to the winning teams in three categories: Best Innovation (Rs. 50,000/- per team), Judges’ Choice (Rs. 25,000/- per team), and Best Women Innovator (Rs. 25,000/- per team. Award winners will receive their awards at the time of the Convocation.

ELIGIBILITY

All final year students of B.Tech., B.Arch., Integrated Dual Degree (IDD), Integrated Master of Technology (IMT) programmes admitted through JEE (Advanced) having Project as a part of their final year curriculum.

SELECTION PROCESS

The following procedure will be adopted to select the students for Professional Development and Innovation Awards:

  • SCSP office will invite the application from the students. Any one member of project team can apply for this award on the behalf of entire team.
  • SCSP will verify the details and documents submitted of each applicant. Defective/incomplete applications will be kept on hold for correction from students’ side within a given duration.
  • Donor team will shortlist the applications received the basis of set criteria (innovative idea, environmental sustainability, development of rural areas and under-privileged sections of the society, etc.) for support under the program
  • The shortlisted projects will be mentored by industry leaders, academicians, and public servants.
  • Annual innovation awards competition will be held in front of a committee to select the recipients.
  • The selected recipients will get their award at the time of annual convocation.

ELIGIBILITY

Students getting Ph.D. degree in the forthcoming annual convocation will be eligible to apply for this award.

ELIGIBILITY

OM BALA THAPAR CASH PRIZE For All graduating UG girl students on the basis of overall performance. The minimum CGPA requirement is 8.0.

ELIGIBILITY

DIRECTOR GOLD MEDAL for best all-rounder amongst the B. Tech./ B.Arch./ IDD/ Int. M.Sc./ Int. M.Tech. students admitted through JEE. The minimum CGPA requirement is 9.0.

ELIGIBILITY

THE PRESIDENT OF INDIA Dr. SHANKAR DAYAL SHARMA MEDAL  For graduating UG/PG student for excellent contribution in the field of Social Service. The minimum CGPA requirement is 8.0.

ELIGIBILITY

Dr. JAI KRISHNA GOLD MEDAL FOR EXCELLENCE  in academics and youth leadership. Applications are invited from graduating students of B.Tech./ B.Arch./ IDD/Int M Tech/Int M.Sc who were admitted through JEE. Students of these classes having a CGPA of 8.00 and above up to the prefinal semester are eligible to apply for this award.

ELIGIBILITY

Smt. KAUSHALYA ARYA CASH PRIZE for one best female students. Applications are invited from all graduating female students of UG (B.Tech and B.Arch.) who are having a CGPA of 8.0 and above up to the prefinal semester.

Dr. A S ARYA CASH PRIZE for one male student on the basis of overall performance. Applications are invited from all graduating male students of UG (B.Tech. and B.Arch.) who are having a CGPA of 8.0 and above up to the prefinal semester.

Sri M A RAO CASH PRIZE for one all-rounder student. Applications are invited from graduating students of B.Tech./ B.Arch./ IDD/Int M Tech/Int M.Sc who were admitted through JEE. Students of these classes having a CGPA of 8.00 and above up to the prefinal semester are eligible to apply for this award.

LAXMI DEVI and Shri BANADRI DAS CASH PRIZE for one best female students. Applications are invited from all graduating female students of UG (B.Tech. and B.Arch.) who are having a CGPA of 8.0 and above up to the prefinal semester.

DURGA AWARD for one best female student. Applications are invited from all graduating female students of UG (B.Tech. and B.Arch.) who are having a CGPA of 8.0 and above up to the prefinal semester.

KEDAR NATH AGARWALA I.S.E. MEMORIAL TROPHY and CASH AWARD for academic excellence and outstanding community service. Applications are invited from all graduating UG/PG students who are having a CGPA of 8.00 and above up to the prefinal semester.

SAROJINI NAIDU CUP for excellence in academics and sports. Applications are invited from graduating students of B.Tech./ B.Arch./ IDD/Int M Tech/Int M.Sc who were admitted through JEE. Students of these classes having a CGPA of 8.00 and above up to the prefinal semester are eligible to apply for this cup.

ELIGIBILITY

SERVICE ORIENTED NATURAL SCIENCE INNOVATION & APPLICATION (SONIA) AWARDS of Rs. 15000/- each will be given each year as per the following criteria: Applications/nominations will be invited from all graduating students of M.B.A., B.Arch., M.Arch., MURP, MSc. Economics., Integrated MBA courses, who have made significant contributions to the development of rural India either in the form of a final year project or part of any other initiative at IIT Roorkee. Applications/nominations can be made individually or in a group. In case, some work is done in a group but applications are made individually, with the consent of other groups. In case, some work is done in a group but the application is made individually, consent of other group members for the same should be submitted. After an initial screening of the nominations/applications, a committee recommended by SCSP and approved by the Director will conduct interviews/presentations of few shortlisted candidates.

ELIGIBILITY

RURAL INDIA TECHNOLOGY BASED UPLIFTMENT (RITU) EXCELLENCE AWARDS of Rs. 15000/- each will be given each year as per following criteria: Applications / nominations will be invited from all graduating students of B.Tech.,Int. M.Sc. and M.Tech. and dual degree courses, who have made significant contribution for the development of rural India either in the form of a final year project or part of any other initiative at IIT Roorkee. Applications / nominations can be made individually or in a group. In case, some work is done in group but applications is made individually, consent of other group. In case, some work is done in group but application is made individually, consent of other group members for the same should be submitted. After initial screening of the nominations / applications, a committee recommended by SCSP and approved by the Director will conduct interviews / presentation of few shortlisted candidates.

ELIGIBILITY

SINGHAL’s TECH FOR SOCIETY AWARD is established, to honor and recognize deserving final year B.Tech student(s) of IIT Roorkee for the work on the meaningful, relevant, innovative, impactful, and commercially viable project as part of their final year curriculum. The award of Rs.50,000/-(Rs. Fifty Thousand Only) along with a certificate will be given each year to the winner(s) duly selected by a sub-committee of the Senate Committee for Scholarship & Prizes (SCSP).

This award carries one (01) cash prize of Rs. 1 Lac along with a Gold Medal and citation per year. This award will be awarded to a deserving graduating student for significant contribution towards green/renewable energy sector. The award will be given on the following basis:

  • Innovative idea in hydro/green/renewable energy sector,
  • Reduction of carbon emission,
  • Possibility of scalability,
  • Possibility of wider deployment in industry,
  • Encouraging sustainable energy development in the long run.

ELIGIBILITY

All graduating students of UG/PG (including Ph.D.) programmes

SELECTION PROCESS

The following procedure will be adopted to select the student for AK Goel Green Energy Prize and Gold Medal:

  • SCSP office will invite the application from the students.
  • SCSP office will verify the details and documents submitted of each applicant.
  • A committee will shortlist the applications received and conduct interview/presentation of the shortlisted candidates.
  • The final recommendation of the committee will be sent to the Senate for the approval.

This award carries two (02) cash prizes, each of Rs. 10,000/-, per year. These cash prizes will be awarded to two deserving graduating students (one male & one female) of UG programmes on the basis of their involvement/projects for the upliftment of rural India oriented technology innovation.

The following procedure will be adopted to select the students for Sh. Darshan Lal Gautam & Smt. Kamla Gautam Award:

  • SCSP office will invite the application from the students.
  • SCSP office will verify the details and documents submitted of each applicant.
  • A committee will shortlist the applications received and conduct interview/presentation of the shortlisted candidates.
  • The final recommendation of the committee will be sent to the Senate for the approval.
