PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT AND INNOVATION AWARDS

The alumni of 1983 class initiated Professional Development and Innovation Awards to promote the spirit of professional excellence and innovation amongst undergraduate and postgraduate technology/architecture students of IIT Roorkee and to provide alumni mentoring support to them.

Since its inception in the year 2019, the program has been run successfully by IITR faculty and alumni in partnership. The awards totaling over Rs. 1 Lakh will be given to the winning teams in three categories: Best Innovation (Rs. 50,000/- per team), Judges’ Choice (Rs. 25,000/- per team), and Best Women Innovator (Rs. 25,000/- per team.

ELIGIBILITY

  • All final year students of B.Tech. and B.Arch. programmes admitted through JEE (Advanced) having project as a part of their final year curriculum.
  • All final year students of M.Tech., M.Arch. and M.U.R.P. programmes having dissertation/thesis work as a part of their final year curriculum.

SELECTION PROCESS

The following procedure will be adopted to select the students for this award:

  • SCSP office will invite the application from the interested students. Any one member of project team can apply for this award on the behalf of entire team.
  • Donor team will shortlist the applications received the basis of set criteria (innovative idea, environmental sustainability, development of rural areas and under-privileged sections of the society, etc.) for support under the program
  • The shortlisted projects will be mentored by industry leaders, academicians, and public servants.
  • Annual innovation awards competition will be held in front of a committee to select the recipients.
  • The final recommendation of the committee will be sent to the Senate for the approval.

MERIT CUM MEANS (MCM) SCHOLARSHIP

MERIT CUM MEANS (MCM) SCHOLARSHIP

Under Merit cum Means (MCM) Scholarship, a UG student gets a minimum ₹1000 per month for 10 months per academic year along with refund of the remaining tuition fee. An M.Sc. student gets a minimum ₹1000 per month for 10 months per academic year. It is available only for the normal duration of the programme. For dual degree programmes, it is available only up to the 4th year. Further, it is awarded up to 25% of the actual strength of the class.

ELIGIBILITY

To avail MCM Scholarship, a student is expected to fulfil the following conditions:

  • Applicant belongs to General OR General (EWS) OR OBC category.
  • Applicant is a student of B.Tech., B.Arch., Integrated Dual Degree (IDD), Integrated Master of Technology (IMT), Integrated Master of Science (IMS), and BS-MS programmes admitted through JEE (Advanced) OR M.Sc. programmes admitted through JAM.
  • Gross Income of parents (Father and Mother or Guardian) during the previous financial year is not more than Rs. 5,00,000/-.
  • Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) and Yearly Grade Point Average (YGPA) is 7.00 or above (not applicable for fresh students).
  • All registered courses have been cleared (not applicable for fresh students).
  • The student has not been penalized for unfair means/ indiscipline.

SELECTION PROCESS

The following procedure will be adopted to select the students for MCM scholarship:

  • SCSP office will invite the application for MCM scholarship from the students.
  • SCSP will verify the details and documents submitted of each applicant.  Defective/incomplete applications will be kept on hold for correction from students’ side within a given duration. SCSP will also verify that the student is not awarded the similar scheme from some other source.
  • SCSP will notified the list of students eligible to avail MCM scholarship.

To apply under MCM Scholarship, the following documents are mandatory to submit:

For UG Students 

  1. Grade sheets of the previous academic year (not applicable for fresh students)

For M.Sc. Students

  1. Pan Cards of Father, Mother and Guardian (if applicable)
  2. Aadhar Cards of Father, Mother and Guardian (if applicable)
  3. Income Tax Return (ITR) Forms of Father, Mother and Guardian (if applicable) (previous financial year or current assessment year)
  4. Grade sheets of the previous academic year (not applicable for fresh students)
  5. JAM Score Card (only for I year students)
